Sparkle’s second album struggled after she and Kelly had creative differences. She was released from Rockland and the album, which was titled “Told You So”, was released to little fanfare on Motown Records. In 2002, the Chicago police alerted Sparkle to a sex tape which allegedly featured her 14 year old niece and R. Kelly. Sparkle subsequently testified at R. Kelly’s criminal trial. More recently she provided background vocals for Toni Braxton’s Vegas show and in January 2019 Sparkle was one of the main commentators on the Lifetime docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly”.
