Armstrong will pay $5 million to the federal government in a lawsuit that could have resulted in $100 million in damages from the seven-time Tour de France winner. Those titles were stripped after Armstrong admitted he used performance-enhancing drugs while cycling. The lawsuit was initially filed in 2010 by Armstrong’s former teammate Floyd Landis. Landis was eligible for up to 25 percent of the settlement. The government became a part of the lawsuit in 2013 after Armstrong had a televised confession admitting his steroid use.
